The directors of WC Willis & Co Ltd recognise and accept their responsibility to ensure that the company's activities do not impact negatively on the environment and as such have committed to implement and maintain a robust Environmental Management System.
WC Willis & Co Ltd is Scotland's leading independent distributor of Personal Protective Equipment to all manner of industry and the company is committed to carrying out its operations in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner.
The company recognises the impact on its own, the contribution to local and global impacts and the influence it has on its suppliers and customers to improve environmental performance.
Aims and Objectives
- To operate in a cost efficient and environmentally responsible manner in respect of energy sourcing
- Continually improve our environmental performance wherever practicable
- To reduce the impact we make on the environment and avoid creating pollution
- Maintain an environmental management structure
- To set and review environmental objectives and targets annually
Legislative Compliance and Industry Standards
- Comply with all relevant environmental legislation, regulations and guidelines
- Comply with industry standards and good practices
Energy and Waste Management
- Maintain and develop energy performance monitoring
- Review and monitor energy consumption and cost on a continuous basis
- Reduce the amount waste generated by implementing a waste reduction programme
- Identify cost effective measures to reduce energy consumption
Education and Awareness
- Create an awareness of our environmental policy to our customers, suppliers and staff
- Identify and promote sustainable procurement policies with staff and suppliers
- To encourage our suppliers to adopt an Environmental Management System
Targets
- To reduce our CO2 emissions below 2010 levels by year 2014
- To reduce waste per tonne going to landfill below 2010 levels by 2014
- To reduce vehicle fuel consumption below 2010 by 2011
- To reduce consumption of paper below 2010 levels by 2014
